SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a Shelbyville man fatally shot after a standoff with police and those of the officers involved.

Indiana State Police say 56-year-old Jerrald Wright died after being shot by officers Sunday morning following a nine-hour standoff.

They say the officers involved were Shelbyville City Police Lt. Jeremiah Walton, a 13-year veteran; Patrolman Charles Curry, a 15-year veteran; Shelby County Sheriff’s Department Cpl. Michael Cleveland, a 15-year veteran; and Deputy Travis Maloney, a 15-year veteran.

Police say the standoff came to an end when Wright stepped out of a home and fired two shots from a handgun at a tactical vehicle before aiming the weapon at police. That’s when the officers opened fire.
