BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Data released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention rank Vermont sixth best in the nation overall in its adult obesity rate.

The report from the Trust for America’s Health ranks New Hampshire as the 15th best in the nation and Maine as 19th best.

Ahead of Vermont are California, Massachusetts, Hawaii, the District of Columbia and Colorado.

According to the report, 60 percent of adults in Vermont are either overweight or obese; 29 percent of high school students are overweight or obese; and 75 percent of students report not meeting the national physical activity recommendation of 60 minutes of physical activity a day every day. Twenty percent of Vermont adults report getting no leisure time physical activity.
