LAS VEGAS (AP) - Jury selection is due to begin Monday for the retrial of a Las Vegas man who has been jailed since August 2008 on allegations that he sexually assaulted the 14-year-old daughter of a friend.

Defense attorney Ozzie Fumo said 48-year-old Warren McClinton maintains he is innocent, wants to clear his name and won’t take a plea deal to avoid trial.

McClinton could face decades in prison if he’s convicted. He faces seven sexual assault, lewdness and battery charges.

Prosecutor James Sweetin has noted that McClinton has had at least 10 lawyers since he was first arrested.

McClinton was tried in June and acquitted of one sex assault charge.

Clark County District Court Judge Eric Johnson has expressed concern that the case hasn’t been resolved through trial or negotiations.
