WACO, Texas (AP) - Waco police say 6-month-old twin boys were found unharmed about three minutes after a man stole the running sport utility vehicle they’d been left in.

The Waco Tribune-Herald (https://bit.ly/1QTjteX ) reports that a police report said a man and a female passenger parked the vehicle at a convenience store Saturday night and then both got out, leaving it running with the children in the backseat.

While in the store, the SUV’s owner saw a man jump into the vehicle and take out of the parking lot. An officer who gave chase lost contact, but then additional officers swarmed the area.

Officers found the SUV with the engine still running. Police say one child was awake and crying, the other was asleep.

The suspect was last seen running through an alley.
