GLACIER PEAK WILDERNESS, Wash. (AP) - Officials with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office say they located and transported a 17-year-old hiker who fell in the North Cascades northeast of Seattle.

Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Shari Ireton said in a news release that search and rescue teams responded to a call around 6:30 p.m. Monday near the White Chuck Glacier after a personal locator beacon was activated.

Hikers with a 17-year-old girl told rescuers that she fell and had a spinal injury. Search teams located the group around 7 p.m., hoisted her out and transported her to a hospital in Everett at about 9 p.m.
