LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) - A man accused of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl repeatedly and videotaping the crime has been sentenced in La Crosse County to eight years in prison for having child pornography.

Authorities began investigating William Clark, of Bangor, in November 2013 after the girl said he had sexually assaulted her daily for six months. The La Crosse Tribune (https://bit.ly/1KxqvAL ) says the 29-year-old defendant pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography. Charges of repeated sexual assault of a child and intimidation of a witness were dismissed, but read at sentencing Monday.

Clark apologized to the victim, her family and the community during the sentencing hearing in La Crosse County Circuit Court. The victim’s mother said every day is a struggle for her daughter and that Clark had torn her family apart.
