BARKER, N.Y. (AP) - State police say a Long Island man drove his motorcycle more than 120 mph while trying to elude troopers on an upstate highway.

They say 20-year-old Christopher Nunez of Holbrook was spotted traveling more than 100 mph on a Honda motorcycle Monday afternoon in Interstate 81’s southbound lanes in the Broome County town of Barker, just north of Binghamton.

Police say he failed to pull over for a trooper who ended the pursuit after eight miles for safety reasons as Nunez sped away at speeds topping 120 mph.

Nunez was later stopped in Binghamton. The charges against him include reckless driving and fleeing a police officer.

He’s being held in the county jail on $2,500 bail. It couldn’t be determined if he has a lawyer to comment on the charges.
