EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - East Lansing says reward money is being made available for information leading to the arrest of anyone setting illegal fires in the city.

The city says in a statement that seven fires were set following the Michigan State University football team’s win over Oregon on Sept. 12. In recent years, fires set to couches or other furniture in the streets followed some big football and basketball games.

Officials say such arson is dangerous and can slow the response time of police and fire crews to medical or other emergencies.

The city says the amount of a reward will depend on the information given and the charges issued. Tips can be made anonymously.
