LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - A jury unanimously convicted a Lake Charles man of second-degree murder in the 2011 death of his 22-year-old girlfriend.

The American Press reports (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb) Timothy Dangerfield was found guilty of killing Sha’Crista Nicole Jones on Sept. 29, 2011.

Dangerfield pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in November 2011.

In August 2012, Judge David Ritchie ruled him mentally competent after two psychiatrists testified Dangerfield was able to respond logically and appropriately and was able to assist his attorneys in his defense.

Dangerfield faces a mandatory life prison sentence.
