PLYMOUTH, Conn. (AP) - Police have identified a Connecticut mother and child killed when their family car crashed into the front porch of a home in Plymouth, landing on its side in the driveway.

Police say 29-year-old Melissa Odelius of Terryville and her two young sons were trapped in the crash around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Officers and bystanders freed the children. Firefighters cut off the roof of the car to extricate the mother.

Melissa Odelius was pronounced dead at the scene. Five-year-old son George Odelius died at Hartford Hospital. Three-year-old Thomas Odelius is hospitalized at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in serious condition.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash.
