WAXAHACHIE, Texas (AP) - An evacuation order has been lifted for a North Texas neighborhood a day after an explosion destroyed a house and left a sister and brother hospitalized.

City spokeswoman Amy Hollywood said the Waxahachie street where the blast occurred Monday was reopened to residents about 7 p.m. Tuesday. She said, however, that only three houses on the street were habitable.

Atmos Energy, a gas utility, said the company doesn’t believe it had a system failure in the blast. A company statement says an inspection for possible natural gas leaks, following Monday morning’s explosion, found evidence of third-party damage to a line near the home. Atmos did not elaborate and said the investigation continues to determine the cause of the blast.

The injured adults, Adele Chavez and Jaymie Rodriguez, were improving Tuesday at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. A spokesman says Chavez was in fair condition and Rodriguez was listed in good condition.

This story has been corrected to show male victim’s first name spelled Jaymie, not Jaime.
