WEST ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a motorist lost control of his car and struck two stores, causing considerable damage to both buildings.

Michael Bidetti was driving a 2010 Maserati on Udall Road in West Islip when police say he crashed into the side of Highbie Bagels on Highbie Lane.

Police say the entire front portion of the bagel shop was damaged. They say the driver then crashed into the front of an adjoining store, Flavor Crisp Chicken.

It happened at 10:30 p.m. Monday when the both stores were closed.

The 40-year-old Bidetti, of West Islip, was taken to a hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The car was impounded for a safety check.

The investigation is continuing.
