COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - A student at Russell County High School has been charged with bringing a revolver to school.

Sheriff Heath Taylor said Tuesday that the student took a .22-caliber revolver from his father’s gun safe and brought it to school. Taylor said the father realized the gun was missing and asked the boy if he’d taken it.

The Ledger-Enquirer (https://bit.ly/1QwXud1 ) reports the school as locked down Tuesday morning as officials investigated reports of a potential threat. The lockdown was lifted around 10 a.m. No one was injured.

Taylor and Russell County District Attorney Kenneth Davis said they planned to charge the student.
