TACOMA, Wash. (AP) - The state agency that helps the public keep up with campaign finance information and investigates complaints of election-law violations has named a new executive director.

The Public Disclosure Commission announced Tuesday that Tacoma lawyer and former assistant attorney general Evelyn Fielding Lopez will lead the agency. The executive director oversees the agency’s staff and makes recommendations to the five-member commission on interpreting and enforcing public disclosure law, among other duties.

The News Tribune of Tacoma reports (https://goo.gl/PNPPuv) that commission chairwoman Katrina Asay praised Lopez for her integrity and leadership.

Asay says with recent legislative funding, the commission and staff are “committed to eliminating backlogs and resolving complaints more quickly.”

Lopez replaces Andrea McNamara Doyle who resigned effective May 31.
