SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - Officials say the Southern University at Shreveport has enrolled a record number of students for the fall 2015 semester.

The Times (https://bit.ly/1Ltt3oz ) reports 3,174 students have been enrolled at the university for this fall. This follows a previous record fall 2013 semester enrollment of 3,018 students.

Applications to associate degree and technical diploma programs have also increased by 28 percent since fall 2014.

Additionally, the university has seen increased enrollment in technical training programs for high-demand careers, including nursing, aerospace technology and computer technology.

The university’s dual training program, which offers high school students college credit, also saw an enrollment increase. Over 700 students will be enrolled in that program this fall.
