BENNINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Three years of planning for a new recreation path linking Bennington and North Bennington have gotten a big boost with the announcement of about $1 million in federal funding.

The 2.12-mile path is to run along the Walloomsac River, connecting Bennington’s urban core to the village of North Bennington.

Local officials are saying the so-called Ninja Path will link two shopping centers, the river and Bennington College, as well as the town and village centers.

Because of the project’s complexity, it’s expected it could be four years before the path is fully open.
