SOUTH CONGAREE, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say 18 students suffered minor injuries after their school bus was hit from behind by a pickup truck while making a stop in Lexington County.

Lexington School District 2 officials said in a release that the bus was hit on state Highway 302 just outside of South Congaree around 1 p.m. Wednesday. It was carrying students from Congaree Elementary and Congaree-Wood Childhood Center.

Police say the 18 students were taken to hospitals as a precaution, and none of them appeared to be seriously injured.

Some other children on the bus who were not hurt were sent home with their parents.

Troopers are investigating the wreck.
