STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) - American Airlines has delivered an MD-80 airplane that it’s donating to Oklahoma State University.

The retired aircraft with a logo of OSU mascot Pistol Pete on the fuselage was delivered Wednesday at Stillwater Regional Airport after being brought to Stillwater from Tulsa.

The airplane is to be used to provide hands-on learning for OSU’s Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering students and to serve as a learning lab for kindergarten through 12th grade students.

The MD-80 passenger jet will be maintained at the Stillwater airport, but will not fly again and American Airlines is currently phasing out its fleet of the aging aircraft.
