PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Capitol’s dome will be lit purple during October.

Gov. Doug Ducey’s office said the special lighting is a monthlong observance of “Domestic Violence Awareness Month.”

Ducey will light the dome during a Thursday evening ceremony.

He said in a statement that domestic violence is a “pervasive problem” that affects numerous men and women, including people of all ages, races, religions, socio-economic backgrounds and education levels.
