COLLEGE PARK, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say the driver has been charged in the involvement of a wrong-way crash that killed a police officer in south Fulton County.

Local news media report Wednesday that 65-year-old Arimentha Best has been charged with homicide by vehicle in the second degree and driving on the road side of the roadway. DeKalb County officer Kevin Toatley was killed in the crash.

Toatley’s patrol car hit head-on with an SUV going the wrong direction on a freeway early Saturday. Toatley was hired in 2007.

Three adults and two juveniles were in the wrong-way vehicle.

Best remains in critical condition. Front passenger Alexis Best is in serious but stable condition. The rear passenger Freddie Taylor is in serious but stable condition. Two juveniles have been released from the children’s hospital.
