ROYAL OAK, Mich. (AP) - A female red panda cub has made its public debut at the Detroit Zoo.

The zoo in the Detroit suburb of Royal Oak says Tofu, the offspring of 10-year-old mother Ta-Shi and 6-year-old father Shifu, was born June 22.

The zoo says Tofu was spotted last weekend close to her mother in their wooded habitat.

The red panda is mostly shy and solitary. It’s about the size of a house cat, with rust-colored fur and an 18-inch white-ringed tail. They’re skilled climbers, spending most of their time hanging from tree branches or lounging on limbs.
