NEW YORK (AP) - A New York man accused of killing his wife and then trying to make it seem as if she was killed by an intruder has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Thirty-three-year-old Jonathan Crupi was sentenced Wednesday for the July 2012 death of his wife, Simeonette Mapes.

Authorities said Crupi pushed Mapes down a flight of stairs during an argument before stabbing her 15 times.

They allege the former teacher then ransacked the home to make it look like his wife had been killed by an intruder.

Prosecutors say Crupi met up with a prostitute after the killing, then returned home hours later and called 911.

The Staten Island Advance reports (https://bit.ly/1OSbtvD ) Crupi maintains he is innocent and told a judge he did not kill his wife.
