FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A Fayetteville man has been charged with murder for the death of a man who was killed when shots were fired into his home earlier this year.

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Tuesday that 25-year-old Bruce Lawrence Master has also been charged with firing a weapon into an occupied home.

Derek Dekovan Jones died after shots were fired into his home June 25, striking him in the chest.

Master had been in jail on other charges since July 30.

Authorities think Master fired a gun into a nearby home. None of the five people in that home were hurt.

It was not clear if Master has an attorney on the latest charges.
