NEW YORK (AP) - Transportation officials say many streets will be closed and buses will be diverted when Pope Francis is in New York later this week.

The Port Authority says Wednesday that anyone attending any of the pope’s events Friday should plan to take mass transit.

PATH will run extra trains in to Manhattan from Journal Square and Hoboken.

The Port Authority says numerous Manhattan streets will be closed and some of the street closings won’t be announced in advance.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says up to 25 buses may be rerouted.

The MTA says all bus routes near papal events in Manhattan will see delays, detours and closures.

Subways are expected to run on normal schedules.
