NEW YORK (AP) - Police have arrested a man in connection with the shooting death of a taxi driver in the Bronx.

Police said Wednesday that 24-year-old Nicholas Sanchez, of the Bronx, was arrested on charges of murder, manslaughter, attempted robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.

It wasn’t clear if Sanchez had a lawyer.

The outer borough green cab driver, 39-year-old Barry Mamadou, was found dead in the driver’s seat of his Lincoln town Car at about 1:30 a.m. Monday in Belmont. He had been shot in the head.

The New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers says Mamadou was the father of three children whose wife was expecting their fourth child.
