GOLDEN, Colo. (AP) - Authorities have arrested a man after a body was found inside a burning car in Jefferson County.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says 46-year-old Shawn Geerdes was arrested without incident Wednesday in connection with the death of 44-year-old Jason Dosa, of Parker. Dosa was shot and his body was found in a burning car down a steep embankment in Deer Creek Canyon west of Chatfield State Park on Sunday.

Geerdes, who is due in court Thursday, is being held without bail on charges of first-degree murder and second-degree arson. It’s unclear if he has hired an attorney.

A Gofundme site set up to help Dosa’s family says he was married with two children and describes him as a “light in this world” who was looked up to by many.
