LANCASTER, N.H. (AP) - A Gorham man has been sentenced to at least 35 years in prison after pleading guilty to second-degree in the April shooting death of a man near the town common.

Christopher Drouin pleaded guilty to the charge Wednesday in Coos County Superior Court in Lancaster. The 25-year-old also pleaded guilty to attempted murder for shooting at another man.

The shooting happened near the police station. New officers were being sworn in when the shots were heard. Police found 27-year-old Michael Welch suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He died before getting to a hospital.
