POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) - A steel sculpture that will be dedicated by the Walkway Over the Hudson was made from discarded sections of the old railway bridge.

The sculpture by local artist Michael Ciccone titled “Momentum” will be dedicated Saturday during a ceremony at Upper Landing Park along the Poughkeepsie waterfront.

The walkway connecting Poughkeepsie to Highland was created from an old rail bridge and opened in 2009.

Ciccone used a blowtorch to cut off large portions of unwanted steel from the bridge and turned them into a 12-foot-high abstract sculpture.
