SHAMOKIN, Pa. (AP) - A teachers’ strike in central Pennsylvania is ending after the union and school district agreed to resolve the work stoppage by 182 teachers.

The Daily Item of Sunbury reported Wednesday (https://bit.ly/1KvUITM ) that the union and two school districts will undergo mandatory non-binding final best offer arbitration under state law. That process could take another year to complete.

The resolution ends 12 days of picketing by Shamokin Area School District staff.

The paper says the district will tack on days so that the school year ends by June 30.
