MONKTON, Vt. (AP) - The town of Monkton is installing culverts for wildlife crossings.

The work is closing the Monkton/Vergennes Road.

Vermont Public Radio reports (https://bit.ly/1G2MyhG ) the road, which stretches along amphibian habitat, is being closed on Wednesday and Friday.

The work zone is approximately one mile south of the Monkton Road and Hollow Road intersection.

Monkton is asking travelers to take marked detours on Route 7 to Hollow Road.
