PILOT RUNS OUT OF GAS, LANDS ON INTERSTATE 595 NEAR FORT LAUDERDALE

Authorities say no one was injured when the plane clipped a car as it made emergency landing Thursday morning.

About 100 animal welfare activists were in downtown Orlando Thursday. Among the protesters was a Wekiva group that has filed a lawsuit against the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission seeking to stop the hunt.

Port Canaveral CEO John Walsh said Wednesday that he would resign in January after two Port Authority commissioners indicated they were prepared to fire him. Walsh had been criticized recently for making disparaging remarks about opponents.

POLICE SHOOT KNIFE-WEILDING MAN NEAR MIAMI

The man was fatally shot after a confrontation with police outside a Miami-Dade County apartment complex. Police say he stabbed a 13-year-old boy and the child’s mother.

PREGNANT WOMAN SHOT, DELIVERS BABY

Jacksonville Sheriff’s officials say the woman was inside a home that was sprayed with bullets early Thursday. The baby was born a short time later and mother and child are doing well.
