BATESVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Independence County Judge Robert Griffin has announced that he’s switching from the Democratic to the Republican Party and will run for re-election as a Republican.

Griffin is currently serving his third term as the county’s chief administrative official. He was welcomed to the GOP by Republican officials that include Gov. Asa Hutchinson, Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin, Congressman Rick Crawford and state party Chairman Doyle Webb.

State Rep. Mike Holcomb of Pine Bluff announced last month that he has switched from the Democratic Party to the GOP and will run for re-election as a Republican while Rep. Nate Bell of Mena announced in June that he was leaving the Republican Party to become an independent.
