MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The former football coach at Alabama State University and a school trustee are accusing each other of becoming violent when an argument erupted in a deposition.

An attorney for former coach Reggie Barlow told the Montgomery Advertiser that trustee Herbert Young began screaming during the deposition and then grabbed Barlow around the throat and pushed his head into a doorframe. He said the trustee threw punches but that none hit the former coach.

However, an attorney for Young says that it was Barlow that struck the trustee as he was attempting to leave after a hostile exchange. The attorney said Young did not touch the former coach.

The altercation happened during a deposition related to Barlow’s wrongful termination suit against the university.
