PALO ALTO, Calif. (AP) - The city of Palo Alto has closed a public library for two days because of a bed bug infestation.

KNTV reports (https://bit.ly/1G4KXIf ) Thursday that the city is sending bed bug-sniffing dogs to its other libraries. At least one library will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Bed bugs were found in two chairs at the Mitchell Park Library, the station reports. The city has asked a pest control company to treat the area.

Bed bugs, the city said, are not uncommon at libraries and they can sometimes be transported through the sharing of books.

Bed bugs have formerly been found at libraries in the Los Angeles Central Library, a library in Wichita, Kan. and a library in Islip, N.Y., the station reports.
