BLUEFIELD, Va. (AP) - Tobacco use is no longer allowed on municipally owned properties in the town of Bluefield.

Multiple media outlets report that Town Council approved a resolution this week banning tobacco use on municipally owned properties.

Mayor Don Harris says it’s a health issue. He says town officials also want to discourage tobacco use by young people.

Harris says signs will be up soon at parks, ball fields and other properties owned by the town.
