Central Michigan (1-2) at No. 2 Michigan State (3-0), 12:01 p.m. (Big Ten Network)

Line: Michigan State by 26 ½.

Series Record: Michigan State leads 6-3.

WHAT’S AT STAKE

At No. 2 in the country, Michigan State has its highest ranking since the end of the 1966 season. The Spartans will try to look the part and avoid an upset - a week after top-ranked Ohio State struggled with Northern Illinois.

KEY MATCHUP

Michigan State WR Aaron Burbridge against Central Michigan’s secondary. Burbridge has 20 receptions already this season, and the rest of the Spartans have only 30. It will be interesting to see if the Chippewas can force Michigan State QB Connor Cook to look elsewhere.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Central Michigan: TE Ben McCord. The CMU senior caught 10 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown in last week’s overtime loss at Syracuse.

Michigan State: LB Shane Jones. The Spartans are preparing to play the first half without LB Riley Bullough, who was ejected for targeting late in last weekend’s win over Air Force. Jones, a 6-foot-1 sophomore, is now listed atop the depth chart at the “Mike” linebacker spot.
