FAIRVIEW, Okla. (AP) - A northern Oklahoma police officer faces six felony charges related to child pornography.

William “Nate” Meyer of the Fairview Police Department was charged Wednesday with five counts of possession of child pornography and one count of violating the Computer Crimes Act. The Enid News & Eagle (https://bit.ly/1NP3U7Y ) reports that department officials placed Meyer on administrative leave and contacted the District Attorney’s Office on Friday after a teen accused him of sending sexual texts to his girlfriend.

Dewey County Sheriff L. Clay Sander says more than 50 pornographic images featuring children were found on a computer in Meyer’s home during a search Monday.

Meyer was arrested after the search and later was released from custody on a $50,000 bond. He declined to comment.

He’s scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon.
