PRAIRIE GROVE, Ark. (AP) - A historical marker at the Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park has been damaged for the second time this year.

Park interpreter Holly Houser says the marker near the Borden House was discovered damaged Wednesday morning. Houser tells the Northwest Arkansas Democrat Gazette (https://bit.ly/1LPLAr6 ) that the marker was broken earlier this year and replaced.

The park says the Borden House is the site where the heaviest local fighting occurred during the Civil War.

Houser says police have been asked to patrol the area more often, but officials don’t yet know whether they’ll change security measures because of the vandalism.
