HONOLULU (AP) - Honolulu officials are planning to clear more sidewalks in the Kakaako homeless encampment next week.

Crews have cleared out several blocks of the encampment and will return to clear more of the area on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

The encampment had about 300 residents in August. The state coordinator on homelessness Scott Morishige says since that time 90 people have been moved into shelters or housing. About half were single people and the others were families.

The American Civil Liberties Union Hawaii had asked a federal judge to order a stop to the sweeps but the request was denied.
