CLEVELAND (AP) - NASA Glenn Research Center near Cleveland is creating a hall of fame to honor key figures in its history, including a director who also served as the agency’s national chief of space flight.

The center’s first hall of fame class will be inducted Friday. The class includes three of the center’s former directors.

Officials say the inductees all had a far-reaching influence on the direction and mission of the center. They all worked at the center at some point during the center’s 74 years near Cleveland.

The center says the new inductees made fundamental advances in their field and served as an inspiration to employees through their character and embodiment of the “NASA spirit.”
