PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) - A Pawtucket elementary school is offering a dual-language learning program for kindergarteners.

WLNE-TV (https://bit.ly/1LzligN ) reports that two of three kindergarten classes at Nathanael Greene Elementary School are being taught in English and Spanish.

Principal Monique Jacob says the goal is to have all 37 students speaking Spanish fluently by middle school.

She says the program also aims to create “international citizens” who can communicate in more than just their native language.

School officials are looking to add Portuguese and Chinese to other elementary schools in the district in the coming years.
