RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Chesterfield County police have charged a man with killing three people whose bodies were found in a home.

Police say in a news release that 28-year-old Carl V. Hughes IV of Chesterfield County was known to the victims.

Hughes was being held Thursday at Riverside Regional Jail on three counts of first-degree murder. It wasn’t known if he had a lawyer.

Police say officers discovered the bodies of three adults in a home on Wednesday night. The officers were responding to a request from the Richmond Police Department to check on the welfare of the home’s residents.

The victims haven’t been identified pending notification of relatives.
