PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police say a stabbing near Philadelphia City Hall has left a 47-year-old man dead.

It happened just before 7 a.m. Thursday on Broad Street. Police say the victim was stabbed in the chest and died a short time later at a hospital.

The stabbing occurred about a block from where a security perimeter is going up for Pope Francis’ visit to the city this weekend.

It’s unclear what led to the stabbing. Authorities didn’t immediately release the victim’s identity.

Police say they haven’t identified a suspect.
