PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Preservationists are trying to raise money to repair the 19th century “wedding cake house” in Providence.

The Providence Journal (https://bit.ly/1jefZs7 ) reports that the vacant Kendrick-Prentice-Tirocchi House is on the Providence Preservation Society’s Most Endangered Properties list.

The West Broadway Neighborhood Association and the PPS are trying to raise $25,000 to match a grant received this year from the 1772 Foundation. About $2,500 has been raised so far.

The organizations are offering two tickets for an Oct. 15 tour of the property to those who donate $250.

The donation will go to the Providence Revolving Fund, which would maintain the deteriorating house until a new owner is found.

The WBNA is seeking an owner interested in restoring the 1867 mansion, so named because its ornate exterior resembles wedding cake decorations.
