SAN JACINTO, Calif. (AP) - Two children who investigators say were confined to a single room in a San Jacinto home for more than a year have been removed from their parents.

The Press-Enterprise reports (https://bit.ly/1jdihYB ) that the parents have been jailed on investigation of felony child abuse. 29-year-old Emily Tardy and 38-year-old Steven Crane have been booked into Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, with bail set at $35,000 each.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department says deputies responded Tuesday to a report of child abuse at a San Jacinto home. There, they found two children who were confined to a single room under “deplorable conditions.” They had no access to a restroom or other basic needs.
