SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah (AP) - A South Salt Lake man has been charged in the death of a woman who was found strangled in her apartment in July.

Dil Bahadur Magar was charged Wednesday with murder and aggravated burglary in Bhoti Subba’s death.

Police say they found Subba in her apartment with an orange electrical cord wrapped around her neck. An autopsy determined she had been strangled and had two cuts on her neck.

Charging documents say Magar’s DNA profile was consistent with DNA found in the victim’s home and on her fingernails. The 25-year-old suspect told police he knew the victim but denied ever being in her home.

Magar is being held in the Salt Lake County Jail on $1 million bail.
