DEL CITY, Okla. (AP) - The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a proposal to name the Del City post office the James Robert Kalsu Post Office Building.

Bob Kalsu was a University of Oklahoma All-American offensive lineman and played one season of professional football with the Buffalo Bills before being killed in Vietnam in 1970.

Rep. Steve Russell says the House approved the proposal on a voice vote Thursday. Russell is a Del City native who sponsored the resolution that is co-sponsored by fellow Oklahoma Reps. Frank Lucas, Markwayne Mullin, Tom Cole and Jim Bridenstine.

Russell said Kalsu was also a Del City native who gave up pro football and was a member of the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division when he was killed July 21, 1970.

The resolution now goes to the U.S. Senate.
