NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities say a 10-year-old boy found in a Brooklyn apartment that was on fire has died.

Firefighters found the boy unconscious Thursday night in an apartment in the East New York neighborhood. The building is operated by the New York City Housing Authority.

Emergency medical service workers pronounced him dead. The medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of death.

The New York Police Department is withholding the boy’s name until his family has been notified.

An investigation is continuing.
