ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - State police say they have arrested four staff members at a state facility in northern New York and charged them with assaulting a disabled resident.

According to police, the four employees of Sunmount in Tupper Lake are charged with endangering the welfare of a disabled person, assault and official misconduct.

Authorities say the Franklin County grand jury indictment stems from an assault on a resident last Oct. 3 at the facility run by the state Office for People with Developmental Disabilities.

One staff member also is charged with criminal obstruction of breathing.

Police say the four have been jailed pending a future court appearance.
