MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama State University trustee and the school’s former football coach have filed assault charges against each other after a tense deposition.

Former ASU football coach Reggie Barlow is suing the school for wrongful termination.

The Montgomery Advertiser (https://on.mgmadv.com/1PAZ9Oo ) reports that audio of Thursday’s deposition of ASU trustee Herbert Young captured the two men arguing. The recording isn’t clear about what occurred next.

Barlow’s attorney says Young grabbed Barlow around the throat and the men exchanged punches. Young’s attorney says her client was attempting to leave the room when Barlow struck him.

The newspaper says Barlow sued after his November firing from ASU.
